An air of early history
In Destination Skanderborg you can almost feel the presence of people of earlier ages. The richness of the country makes it easy to imagine why man has been attracted to this area ever since the stone age.

People of many different ages have left their marks, through their ways of life, their thoughts and the tools they used. Visit the local museums and learn more about the people that used to live in this area before us.

The past comes alive

Destination Skanderborg has been inhabited for more than 10,000 years. And these people, our ancestors, have of course left their marks on the countryside. Wherever you go, on foot, on bicycle or by boat, make a pause and feel the impact of history. The many info boards help making the past alive.

A museum without walls

The Eco-Museum is a museum with no walls and no ceiling, only the blue sky above. When you move about in the beautiful countryside around Ry, you will see how man has left his mark on the countryside through the ages. By way of example a sunken road on which carts bumped along for centuries. Today, it looks only like hilly ground. The signs of history are there. The challenge is to find them.

To make it easier to see what lies hidden, info boards have been put up in relevant places.

Use your imagination and revive the people who shaped the countryside before your time.
