The Danish Lake District is famed for its fantastic scenery. Three characteristic features leap to the eye - the large forests, the many lakes and the river Gudenå. The hills were formed during the latest Ice Age more than 12.000 years ago when glacial streams furrowed the countryside and formed the deep valleys and gullies we see today. The hillsides and the moraine plateau behind them lend incredible variety to the scenery and fantastic scenic views. The area thus offers ample opportunity for lots of outdoor activities.
