A flowing stream of experiences
With its more than 160 kilometres the Gudenå - Denmarks only river - meanders through the Lakelands and provides water and landscapte to a flowing stream of experiences.
Canoeing for fun
The classic sailing vessel, the canoe, can take you on a voyage where you can pitch you tent at one of the many primitive lay-bys or campsites along the river. Get sun in your hair and a smile on your lips while you paddle on in harmony with nature. Canoes are for rent at the camping sites and at the lock in Ry. Kayak - yes please
You can put your kayak in the water an abundance of places in the Lakelands. You can for example set out from the new outdoor recreational oasis by the Emborg Bridge south of Gl. Rye and follow the current north via Lake Gudensø to Ry. Or you can start from the lovely Knudhule beach at the eastern end of Lake Knudsø and enjoy a trip on the lake. NB! No kayaks for rent.
Solar Sailing
You could also try one of the brand new, sun-driven boats with electric engines. The solar panels on the roof of the obats deliver the energy, making the trip very peaceful and quiet. you get quite close to the wildlife on the river and the lakes and can enjoy a noiseless summer picnic. The maximum speed is four knots, so sailing by the sun is for people that appreciate sustainability and quality of life.
