Numerous species of fish thrive in the lakes and creeks of the Lakelands, and you will probably catch some fish, no matter if you are fishing from a bridge or a boat.

19 species are registered including zander, trout and perch. In addition, a local angler suggests that an old, 300-kilo European moth resides in one of Knudsø's deep holes.

To be able to fish in the lakes from Mossø to Kongensbro (the Gudenaa), Knudsø included, it is neccesary that you have a fishing license to Silkeborg Fiskeriforening's fishing waters as well as the national fishing license, see below.

Put & Take lakes
Want to be sure of a good catch? Then consider visiting a Put & Take lake, eg. the one at Holmens Camping. Put & Take lakes are often situated in scenic surroundings, so don’t miss this opportunity.

To be able to fish in the Put and Take lakes in the area, you only need to pay the hourly rate or daily rate that is indicated at the specific Put and Take lake.

The national fishing license
Fishing in Denmark requires a national fishing license for people from 18 to 65 years.

The prices for the national fishing license are:

A day: 40 DKK
A week: 130 DKK
A year: 185 DKK

When sailing by motor boat on the Himmelbjerg lakes, you must have a guest number.
